Founded in 1986, as a non-stock, non-profit organization, by a progressive group of food entrepreneurs, the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization, Inc. (PHILFOODEX) is the leading food industry association in the Philippines, composed of micro, small, medium and large scale food manufacturers and exporters. The membership was broadened to include active membership from allied industries.
We represent a major portion of the country's processed food sector, and our list of processors is impressive, including that of fruits, vegetables (fresh and processed), coffee, marine, wine, and food specialty items.
PHILFOODEX focuses in the planning, development and sourcing of raw materials, on research and technology development of world class quality food products, on the improvement of manufacturing efficiency and productivity, and the promotion of sound trade practices in order for its members to be competitive and responsive on the changing international food trends.
PHILFOODEX enjoys the unique privilege of working closely with government and private industry cycles on critical issues that affect the Philippine food sector to ensure that the industry achieve global competitiveness and excellence, to help the government in its thrust on food security and abundance and in achieving and sustaining the country's inclusive economic growth.
Philippine agricultural exports have been an essential driver in the agriculture sector and constantly played a prominent role in the economy by providing foreign exchange earnings and additional economic activities. Its contribution of US$2,166.91 million FOB value to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 1980 has significantly grown to US$4,101.08 million in 2010, growing at an annual average rate of 9.66%.

PHILFOODEX President, Mr. Roberto C. Amores signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Korean Importers Association (KOIMA) represented by its Chairman and CEO Mr. Tae-Yong Shinn. This agreement have pave a solid foundation for a closer and more practical cooperation between the two (2) countries by newly signing said MOA which highlights the setting of Philippine-Korea Bilateral Enterprise Business Council. This MOA promises to establish a more productive relationship between the two (2) organizations.
The Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization Inc. (PHILFOODEX) recently held its first (1st) General Membership Meeting (GMM) for 2013 last Tuesday, 23 April 2013. We With the Theme: "Sustainable Food Business, One of the Key Drivers of the Philippine Economy", and we have invited Dr. Jesusa Joyce Cirunay, OIC Food Regulation and Research of FDA, who gave updates about the latest development and programs of FDA. We have also invited Mr. Jovel Cipriano, Founder and CEO of PinoyDelikasi.com, and he discussed the best practices in E-Commerce which are critical areas on the development and sustainability of food businesses.
